From souks filled with spices and gold to sky-high towers that defy gravity, it's a spectacle for the senses. And who can forget the iconic Burj Khalifa? Pro tip: Dive into the local cuisine and be sure to try Shawarma and Hummus, it's a taste experience you won't want to miss!

Gastronomy: Delicious Discoveries

Dubai, a city of splendid skyscrapers and opulent malls, is also a paradise for food lovers. For those looking to explore its culinary wonders, Al Harees is a must-try, especially during Ramadan. A dish with just wheat, meat (usually chicken or beef), and a pinch of salt, it is a symbol of the rich culinary tradition in Dubai. It is known for its extensive cooking time, rendering the flavors intermingled to perfection.

Another must-try is Shawarma, the most popular street food. Made by grilling meat on a vertical rotisserie, this dish is usually served in a wrap along with vegetables and tahini, with the meat options typically being lamb or chicken. You can easily find it in almost every street corner, offering a quick and delicious meal option.

Don’t miss out on Al Machboos, a flavorful and aromatic dish. It is typically made with rice, meat, onions, and a mixture of spices. The spices and the meat are usually cooked together, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully, creating a rich and hearty dish that is both nutritious and tasty.

Stuffed Camel is also a dish worth trying. Known as a traditional Bedouin dish, it is made by stuffing a whole camel with sheep, chickens, fish, and rice. This dish is usually prepared for special occasions and large gatherings, providing a grandiose culinary experience.

In the realm of sweets, Luqaimat is a notable mention. These are deep-fried dumplings that are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, usually drizzled with date syrup or honey, creating a delightful contrast of textures and flavors.

For the beverage connoisseurs, Tamar Hindi is a refreshing tamarind-based drink, renowned for its sweet and tangy flavor profile. It is an ideal companion to the savory delights of Dubai’s cuisine. Additionally, the traditional Arabian coffee, Gahwa, is a staple, characterized by its potent flavor and is usually accompanied by dates.

To wind down your gastronomic journey, a leisurely smoke of Shisha is recommended. It’s a traditional water pipe used for smoking flavored tobacco and is available at various cafes and lounges throughout the city.

Remember, on each spot of the audio guide, we’ll give you the nearest recommended restaurants according to Google's users' opinions, ensuring you find the best spots to indulge in these culinary delights.

Transportation and getting around the city

Once you land in Dubai, you've got a couple of solid options to get into the city. The Dubai Metro links directly to the airport, it’s easy on the pocket and pretty efficient. There’s a train every ten minutes or so, and it’ll take you to most of the major spots in the city.

Now, if you’re lugging around a ton of bags or just like the convenience, grabbing a taxi from the airport is super straightforward too. They’re available 24/7 right outside the terminals, and they’re all metered, so you don't have to stress about being overcharged. And yes, there are also ride-sharing apps like Uber and Careem if that's more your speed.

For getting around the city, the Dubai Metro is a good bet. It's clean, efficient, and it'll get you close to most of the major sights and attractions. The buses in Dubai are pretty extensive too, and they link up well with the metro stations, so they're a good option if you're looking to save some dirhams.

If you’re looking to explore the old parts of Dubai, like Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood or the souks in Deira, then walking is the way to go. It’s the best way to soak in the vibe of the place and explore the narrow lanes. And don’t forget to hop on an abra (a traditional wooden boat) to cross the Dubai Creek; it's a fun, quick ride and costs next to nothing.

Oh! And those hop-on, hop-off tour buses are a great shout if you’re looking to hit up a bunch of sights in one go. They cover most of the tourist hotspots, and you can snag tickets online or directly from the driver, pretty easy and hassle-free.

Rental cars are also available if you fancy driving around yourself. Just remember, the traffic can get a bit crazy, especially during rush hours, and parking can be a bit of a hassle in the busy areas.

So, whether you're thinking of zooming around on the metro, cruising in a taxi, or strolling through the historic districts, you've got a range of options to suit your vibe in Dubai. Enjoy!
