About the city of Dubrovnik: Your comprehensive guide

Step into a world where ancient stone walls meet the azure Adriatic Sea, offering a breathtaking blend of history and natural beauty. The iconic medieval fortress, with its panoramic views, is a must-see for any traveler. Wander through charming cobblestone streets, explore historic landmarks, and soak in the vibrant culture. Don't miss indulging in the local cuisine, where fresh seafood and traditional dishes tantalize your taste buds.

Gastronomy: Delicious Discoveries

Start your culinary journey with a taste of the famous black risotto, made with cuttlefish or squid, and its rich, savory flavor. Don't miss trying the traditional dish called peka, where meat and vegetables are slow-cooked under a bell-like dome. For seafood lovers, fresh oysters from nearby Ston are a must-try, offering a taste of the Adriatic's finest. Pair your meals with a glass of local wine, such as Plavac Mali, or try rakija, a potent fruit brandy. End your meal with a slice of rožata, a creamy custard dessert similar to flan. On each spot of the audio guide, we'll give you the nearest recommended restaurants according to Google's users opinions.

Transportation and getting around the city

When you land at Dubrovnik Airport, the easiest way to get to the city is by taking the airport shuttle bus, which drops you off right at the Pile Gate, the main entrance to the Old Town. If you prefer a more direct route, taxis are available, but make sure to agree on a fare beforehand. Within the city, public buses are reliable and cover most areas you'll want to visit. You can buy tickets at kiosks or directly from the driver, but it's cheaper to get them in advance. Dubrovnik is very walkable, especially the Old Town, so you'll find yourself strolling through its charming streets quite often. For a more relaxed sightseeing experience, hop on the tour bus; tickets are available at various spots around the city and online.

Practical tips: The local currency is the Croatian Kuna, and while cards are widely accepted, it's handy to carry some cash for smaller vendors. Dubrovnik uses Type C and F electrical sockets, so make sure to bring the appropriate adapter.
